What happens if the writer misses the deadline or cancels the document? Options

If your writer misses the deadline, the job will either get re-posted to the job board or returned to your queue. This depends on how the job was posted: Posted to Auditions or the Favorite Writer Job Board - it will immediately go back to the same job board using your original settings so another writer can pick it up Direct Assigned - it will go back to your Assign Titles Queue for that project and you will be notified so that you can make a decision whether to Direct Assign it to the same writer or a different writer, or post it to the Favorite Writer Job Board instead
